FROM THE DEPUTY

We finished a fabulous term of learning today with our Under 8's Day. It was an extravaganza of activities. Thank you to all the supporters of this day including Bunnings Browns Plains, Logan Libraries, Our Patch OHSC and SNAP Fitness. It was a wonderful family day and it was great to see so many families enjoying a sunny winter's day.
I would like to wish all our families a happy and safe holiday. Enjoy the time together and we look forward to another term of learning.

Browns Plains State School have been so enriched by having Mr. Poulter as our Principal for the past few years. Today, our students showed him their appreciation for all that he does with a guard of honour after our parade. While we are so sorry to see him leave for the remainder of the year, we wish him all the very best for his new opportunities.

Enrol for Prep 2026
Enrolment have begun for Prep students for 2026. Do you have a child born between July 1st, 2020 and June 30th, 2021? Enrolment packs are now available from the office. GET SET FOR PREP transition days will be held in Term 4. This is an important opportunity to support a comfortable and confident start to Prep. Book a time for your enrolment interview as places will fill quickly.

Jellybean Playgroup
Come and join us Wednesdays – 9:15-10:45 am in the hall room. At playgroup, your child can:
• enjoy early learning activities
• develop friendships and social skills
• build school readiness
. . . as well as a great opportunity to meet and share with other parents

Kindergarten is a part-time educational program for children in the year before Prep. Kindy is 15 hours per week, 40 weeks per year and is free for Queensland children attending a government-approved kindergarten program.
In Kindy, children have great opportunities to make friends, explore new environments, build confidence and have fun learning. Kindy offers meaningful experiences and interactions that support your child's early learning, wellbeing and development and give them a great start to school.
You can find more information about free Kindy programs here.

Deputy Principal
FROM THE DEPUTY

As Term 2 draws to a close, we’d like to take a moment to acknowledge the incredible effort shown by both students and staff throughout the past ten weeks. It’s been a term full of learning, growth, and commitment—and everyone has certainly earned a well-deserved winter break.
One of the highlights this term was our Staff vs Student Origin game, which was a huge success! The energy on the field was matched by the excitement on the sidelines, with students, staff, and families all getting behind their team. A big thank you to everyone who came along and cheered—there was a real buzz around the school, and the spirit of fun and community was on full display.
We wish all our students, families, and staff a safe and restful winter holiday. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday, July 14, ready to continue our journey of academic growth and excellence.

Theresa Kooyman,
Deputy Principal
FROM THE HEAD OF DEPT - STUDENT SERVICES

Congratulations to the classes listed below for their attendance over the last fortnight.

Absences
Please ensure your children are at school every day if they are well. If your child is absent from school, provide a reason for their absence using one of the methods listed below.
- Phone: 07 3809 6222
- Reply to the text message sent by the school on the day of your child’s absence
- Return the Unexplained Absence letter with a reason and signature
Unexplained Absence letters are generated and distributed to students each fortnight. These letters provide dates of your child’s absences which have not already been explained. If you receive one, please fill in the reason/s for your child's absence/s, sign and have your child return it to their class teacher. Please work with us to reduce the number of unexplained absences in 2025!

Jess Galbraith,
HOD-Student Services
FROM STUDENT WELLBEING
Positive Behaviour for Learning
Our fortnightly PBL focus is ‘We work together as a team to maintain respectful relationships’. This aligns with our school value of ‘Always Respectful’.
Students have participated in class discussions about the importance of teamwork in various school settings—such as playing team sports or collaborating during science experiments. Students also explored real-life examples where teamwork is vital, including professions like firefighters and surgeons.
Our PBL focus has tied in perfectly with recent school events, including the Teacher vs Student State of Origin game and our Sports Days. Students have reflected on what it means to be a supportive team member and have explored concepts like sportsmanship and encouragement through engaging videos and discussion.
As part of this learning, students have co-constructed a 'Sportsmanship Pledge' in their classrooms.
Example:

With your child, discuss what it means to be ‘respectful’.

FROM THE P&C

I would like to start off by saying a HUGE welcome to all our newest members that have joined the P&C since we have restarted in March of 2025.
I was so thrilled to be renominated as the President for 2025 alongside the fantastic Natasha Yates as Secretary and Harim Bradshaw as Treasure and I know that we will have a tremendous year ahead.
We are so excited to announce that we had a great response to our first official event, Crazy Hair Day. We appreciate all the kids that got involved and showed off some incredible hairstyles.
We are all looking forward to our upcoming events in Term 3- a school disco, Colour Fun Run and Father's Day stall... so keep an eye out on the Facebook page for more information.
We always welcome new members to come along to our meetings to hear more about the events, listen to the principal's report and be a voice for our school community. Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday, 22nd of July at 9.15am in the stem hub. If you would like to become a member of our P&C, please complete the application for membership form and bring to our next meeting, return to the school office, or e-mail to PandCBPSS@brownsplainsss.eq.edu.au.
Wishing you all a safe and happy break.
