FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Over the past two weeks, our school has been buzzing with activity from camp adventures and our wonderful music concert to the Year 1 fire service visit and personal safety sessions led by the school-based police officers. Today we also recognised two important events: Day for Daniel and World Teachers’ Day. Both of these are powerful reminders of safety, care and appreciation.
Every day of learning counts, and we sincerely thank our families for your ongoing support in ensuring students arrive at school on time, ready to learn and eager to take part in all that our vibrant school community offers.
World Teachers’ Day – Celebrating Our Amazing Staff
Today we celebrate our amazing teachers! We thank our staff for all they do to support all students to reach their full potential. This commitment makes our school such a special place to learner and grow each day.
School Opinion Survey
Thank you to everyone who completed our 2025 School Opinion Survey. The attached infographic highlights some of the most positive results from each group, reflecting the strong learning culture and positive environment that make Wondall such a great place to learn and work.
These results will help guide our school improvement work as we move into 2026. We always value feedback and suggestions - you can share these via admin@brownsplainsss.eq.edu.au, by phoning 3809 6222.

Preparation for 2026
Planning for the 2026 school year is well underway. At this time of year, our teaching team works carefully to prepare class structures and staffing based on projected enrolments. A range of factors are considered in this process, including class sizes, student needs, ability balance, and maintaining positive learning and social groupings. To support us with planning for 2026 we ask that you complete the survey sent via text as soon as possible.

Thank You to Our Amazing Camp Staff
What an incredible experience our Year 6 students had on camp! A heartfelt thank you goes to the dedicated teachers who attended — without your time, energy, and care, this opportunity simply wouldn’t be possible. Camps are such a valuable part of schooling, allowing students and staff to strengthen their connections, build resilience, and create lasting memories together. These experiences also help our students develop strong foundations within their peer groups as they prepare to transition into high school.
A huge thank you also goes to the staff and Principal at Runaway Bay Sport and Leadership Excellence Centre for their outstanding organisation, hospitality, and commitment to supporting the development and wellbeing of our learners.
Swimming Program
Swimming lessons for Year 1 and Year 4 will take place on Monday, 3 November and Wednesday, 5 November. Please ensure your child arrives at school on time, as the bus will need to depart promptly at the scheduled time.
AFL Skills Sessions
From Week 5 to Week 9, a qualified AFL Coach will visit our school to work with Year 4 and 5 students, helping them develop and refine their ball skills. These fun and engaging sessions will be held during first break on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Year 6 High School Transition Day
Our Year 6 students will attend their Browns Plains State High School Transition Day on Thursday, 4 November. Permission forms will be sent home in Week 5. Families are reminded to ensure their child is enrolled prior to the day to assist with planning and organisation.

World Teachers’ Day – Friday, 31 October
Today we celebrate World Teachers’ Day, a special opportunity to recognise the incredible dedication and commitment of our teachers and staff. Each day, they work tirelessly to improve student outcomes, nurture curiosity, and build strong, supportive relationships with both students and families.
I thank all our staff for the care, creativity, and passion they bring to our school community — their impact reaches far beyond the classroom.
As Helen Keller once said, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” Today we acknowledge that it is through working together — teachers, students, and families — that we achieve the greatest success.

Celebrating Great Attendance for Term 3
Congratulations to our Term 3 Best and Most Improved Attendance classes
1C Prep A 6A 6B
To celebrate their fantastic effort in coming to school each day, these classes enjoyed a well-deserved pizza party!
Regular attendance plays a big part in helping students learn, build friendships, and feel part of the school community. We’re so proud of the positive habits our students are building and we can’t wait to see which classes earn the next pizza party in Term 4.

School refusal
Regular attendance is vital for your child’s learning and wellbeing. If your child is finding it difficult to attend school or is showing signs of school refusal, please reach out early for support.
Our Head of Student Services and Engagement Team are here to help work through any challenges and develop strategies to support your child’s attendance and engagement.
Together, we can help every student feel confident and connected at school.

Please ensure your children are at school every day if they are well. If your child is absent from school, provide a reason for their absence using one of the methods listed below.
- Phone: 07 3809 6222
- Reply to the text message sent by the school on the day of your child’s absence
- Return the Unexplained Absence letter with a reason and signature
Unexplained Absence letters are generated and distributed to students each fortnight. These letters provide dates of your child’s absences which have not already been explained. If you receive one please fill in the reason/s for your child's absence/s, sign and have your child return it to their class teacher. Please work with us to reduce the number of unexplained absences in 2025!

FROM THE WELLBEING HUB
This fortnight in PBL, our learners have been focusing on dealing with problems appropriately by reporting to an adult. Reporting a problem is the final step of the High 5 Strategy and is a vital part of responding to inappropriate behaviour. As a parent or carer, you can check in with your child and ask the following questions to support:
- What kinds of problems might you need to report to a teacher or adult at school?
- Who are some safe adults you can go to if you have a problem?
- How do you know when it’s the right time to report something instead of trying to handle it yourself?
By reporting problems to adults, our learners are Always Safe, Learning and Respectful!
FROM THE SOCIAL WORKER
Triple P Parenting 2nd Seminar

Every parent wants their child to grow up feeling confident, capable and ready to take on life’s challenges. But confidence doesn’t appear overnight, its built through everyday experiences, encouragement, and the development of key life skills.
In the next Triple P Seminar, Raising Confident, Capable Children, parents will explore the building blocks that help children thrive. You’ll discover simple, practical ways to help your child:
- Show respect and consideration for others
- Develop good communication and social skills
- Build healthy self-esteem
- Become independent and responsible
- Learn to be a good problem solver
When children develop these important skills, they’re more likely to get along well with others, feel good about themselves, and handle challenges with confidence. This session will give you positive, research backed strategies you can start using right away to support your child.
